Our teacher selection process is rigorous. We look for superior credentials, experience and commitment. Other important considerations are the ability to contribute to the school community, educational philosophy and experiences prior to Aspiration and Discoveries.
All staff from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 is fully qualified in their area of expertise and hold a current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate or deemed equivalent out-of-province qualifications, or hold an Early Childhood Education (ECE) qualification. All staff and anyone working with students have references and a current police record check on file.
Among all staff members are subject to regular background checks and must have up to date CPR and first aid training.
Dr. Porter is a registered Psychologist with a private practice in Clinical and Counseling psychology. Dr. Porter is currently working primarily in the field of Autism and Acquired Brain Injury. Dr. Porter is also an adjunct Faculty member of the Child & Youth Studies Dept. at Brock University.
In addition to his clinical work in these areas, Dr. Porter is currently busy in administrative activities associated with his position as current President of the Canadian Association for Behaviour Analysis (CABA) and is a Past-President of the Ontario Association for Behaviour Analysis (ONTABA).
As our Academy Staff Psychologist, Dr. Porter consults with families and oversees our students’ progress. Dr. Porter also consults and supports us in regular staff development and parent training events, to ensure we continue to deliver a quality service with an experienced team of professionals. Dr. Porter is also available through Aspirations Academy to conduct psychoeducational assessments.
